Oh, wow! This one could go on forever!
18. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
Now who hasn't at one time or another said that life isn't fair??? Of course EVERYONE has because it's true! Life isn't fair, but that's part of why it's called 'Life' just like Mom used to tell us! LOL
And now I'm the Mom, and the Grandma, and I'm going to be agreeing with people on this for as long as I live . . . probably.
Okay, one thing I learned in college about 12 years ago (okay, I'm old, but I am a recent college graduate), was that when you use the word "but" it's like a stop sign. No matter what you say before "but" it's forgotten by whatever follows the "but" - and it's soooooooooo true! Blinders come up when a person hears that word. Try saying "and" or "yet" instead of "but" and see what you think:
You did a fantastic job setting up this seminar but you could have done so much more.
You did a fantastic job setting up this seminar and you could have done so much more.
You did a fantastic job setting up this seminar yet you could have done so much more.
You did but - but, but what?
You did and - and, and that's so encouraging.
You did yet - yet that leaves more to add, kind neutral.
Well, it made sense at the time! LOL
Anyhow, catch yourself next time you say "but" and change it to "and" and see if that doesn't change the interpretation.
Ok, on another note, I've had an amazing struggle in my life recently and it continues. On the one hand I've got God walking with me and watching me. On the other hand I'm letting go of his hand and, dangit, I can't talk about it now!
So, instead, just share with me as we head into OnePrayer. And what's that all about? Well, just click on the link and see for yourself. Join me and God about about 750,000 others as we become united in OnePrayer.
How awesome is God!!
